Compliance Awareness

Raising Awareness of Compliance Across Three Central and Eastern European Countries

Led a regional compliance campaign covering Hungary, Romania, and Bulgaria, embedding compliance into daily operations through a unified strategy and a virtual character designed to promote open reporting, dialogue, and practical understanding.

Background

Due to compliance challenges affecting its operations in Hungary, Romania, and Bulgaria, the management of an international pharmaceutical company decided to launch a comprehensive communication campaign. The goal was to integrate compliance as a natural and visible part of daily organizational operations.

Objective

The primary aim of the project was to ensure open and structured handling of compliance issues, encouraging employees to report risks promptly and propose solutions rather than ignoring or concealing them.

My Role and Implementation

I was responsible for designing a unified communication strategy across the three countries and managing the project from start to finish. A central element of the campaign was the creation of a virtual character, continuously accessible via a dedicated email address and physical mailboxes placed at the company sites. The character also appeared in life-size figure (papier-mâché) as a visual reminder in high-traffic office areas. The character maintained a blog that regularly published posts which:

  • illustrated compliance dilemmas through practical examples,
  • helped employees correctly interpret internal regulations, and
  • actively encouraged questions and feedback.

Outcome

The playful yet consistent communication approach helped keep compliance on the agenda, fostering a culture where employees across the region engaged with compliance issues more openly and consciously.
